KBZE 105.9FM began its broadcast of high school sports in the fall of 1999. KBZE 105.9FM began its broadcast of the Nicholls State Colonels' in the fall of 2001. Since 1999, with the exception of the year 2001, consistently KBZE has broadcast a state champion since we began high school sports coverage. On Nov 20, 2005, KBZE added a college broadcast to its rank when the 24th-ranked Nicholls Colonels, Nonetheless, KBZE continues to be the "Radio station Where Champions Play," because of the teams we follow, who clinch championship titles. Below is our salute to the teams we are honored to be associated with.
2007 State 1B Softball Champions,
under the direction of Head Coach Jay Thomas, clinched their first-ever Southland Conference Championship
with a 39-26 victory over McNeese State at John L. Guidry Stadium in Thibodaux.
