On behalf of the 100 Black Men of St. Mary Parish, and KBZE 105.9FM (radio sponsor), We welcome each and every participant, family member and guest, to the oldest chartered festival in the state of Louisiana, The Shrimp and Petroleum Festival.
From the historic Atachafalaya riverfront, to the beautiful homes along Second Street, the 23rd Annual 100 Black Men of St. Mary Parish 5K Fun Run/Walk will give each participant an interesting and exciting tour of one Louisiana's most unique cities, commonly known as The Cajun Coast. As you tour Morgan City during the hours of the race/walk, cherish that time. Those memories will last a lifetime.

The race will begin at 8AM on Saturday, August 31st. Join us at the corner of Everett and First Streets in historic downtown Morgan City; the starting line is near this corner. Walkers will immediately follow runners. For additional information please contact the 100 Black Men at 985-255-9775 or KBZE at 985-385-6266.
$20. for persons pre-registered by Friday, August 23rd -- Includes t-shirt. $25. for entrants registered the day of the race (t-shirt not guaranteed). $15. for senior citizens, includes one t-shirt (however, not guaranteed after August 28th). $12. allows participation for anyone, but does not include a t-shirt. Pick up a race entry form at the KBZE studios, 1320 Victor II Blvd in Morgan City, La.; Skipper's for Sports in the East Gate Shopping Center, Business Hwy 90 in Morgan City, or call 985-385-6266 and we will fax or mail one to you.
Plenty of parking will be available around the race start.
The 23rd Annual Marcus Jones/100 Black Men of St. Mary Parish course travels through some of the most beautiful and interesting parts of Morgan City. The race will start near the corner of Everett St. and the seawall. The race will proceed to Second Street and make a left turn and proceed down Second St and make a left turn on Onsted Street. The race then
will make a right turn at the seawall and proceed around the wall to Leona Street and make a right turn. The race then will go down Leona Street and make a right turn on Federal Avenue.
Runners and walkers will then proceed down Federal Ave, and make a right turn on Onsted Street. Finally, the race will go down Onsted and make a left turn back on
Second Street and proceed down Second to the Finish line at the corner of Second and Everett Streets.
The 23rd Annual 100 Black Men of St. Mary Parish 5K Fun Run/Walk will have fluid stations located throughout the course. Afterwords, there will be Jambalaya from Rita Mae's Kitchen in Morgan City, fruit and more fluids.
As you finish the race, your time and place will be recorded several times to ensure maximum reliability. In order to keep the finish process smooth and rapid, please observe the following guidelines:
Make sure your race number is visible as you approach the finish line and while you are in the finish chute.
It is very important that you remain in the finishing order as you move through the chutes.
Do not permit family members or friends to cross the finish line with you - this will result in your disqualification.
Food and Refreshments
Following your finish you will be directed to the water stations and then to the post event food distribution area.
The 100 Black Men will present a $300 check to the top male and female finisher of the race.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd
1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies for top male and female finishers. First place medals for these categories: 13 & under male & female; 14-24 male & female; 25-34 male & female; 35-44 male & female; 45-54 male & female; 55-64 male & female; and 65+ male and female. Ribbons will be awarded to second and third place finishers in these categories.
Race Personnel reserve the right to remove any runner who appears significantly impaired or disabled. That runner must stop all running.
Report significant injuries or downed runners to police or race personnel. First aid stations will be available throughout the race for your safety. Injured runners will be transported to the hospital via EMS unit.
